Honor Them By Bringing People Together
Our mission is to raise food and support for Veterans in need through fun, engaging events while honoring and remembering members of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Some people come to challenge themselves. Others walk with friends, children, strollers, coworkers or family members. Some volunteer, sponsor, donate or simply spend the day with us. Every one of those choices matters.
There is a place for everyone.
In Memory of
Staff Sergeant Christopher W. Dill
Best friend. Battle Buddy. Soldier. Buffalo firefighter. The reason one personal walk became a mission.
Staff Sergeant Christopher W. Dill also served his community as a Buffalo firefighter.
The K.I.A. Memorial Roadmarch began with my best friend and Battle Buddy, Staff Sergeant Christopher W. Dill. Chris served in the United States Army Reserve and as a Buffalo firefighter. He was killed in action on April 4, 2005, in Diyala Province, Iraq.
After returning from Iraq, I volunteered wherever I could to support local Veterans. As I met Gold Star families and Veterans who had also lost close friends, I was working through my own grief over losing Chris. I realized there was no single public event in Western New York dedicated to honoring our service members who had been killed in action.

On November 23, 2012, I walked 22 kilometers—13.6 miles—carrying 60 pounds of memorial rocks in my rucksack. Each rock carried the name of a Western New York service member killed during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
That first walk became the K.I.A. Memorial Roadmarch.
Chris remains at the heart of everything we do. He was my Battle Buddy and a fellow Drill Sergeant. When planning the Roadmarch—especially its challenges—I still ask myself, “What would Chris do?”
Chris’s military service, his life as a firefighter and the friendships he left behind continue to guide the mission.
His Name Is Carried Forward
Chris’s service did not end with one uniform. He served his country as a Soldier and his community as a Buffalo firefighter. The memorial firetrucks continue that connection by bringing his story into the community and keeping his name visible at the events and causes he inspired.
The tribute firetrucks carry Chris’s memory forward through service, remembrance and community events.
The “Drink 2 Honor” bottle was created as a personal tribute to Staff Sergeant Christopher W. Dill.
The Thirteen Monkeys “Drink 2 Honor” Christopher W. Dill whiskey bottle is another personal tribute. It was created to honor Chris and to give family, friends and supporters a way to raise a glass in remembrance.
It is not simply a product—it is part of the promise that he will not be forgotten.
What began as one personal walk has grown into a community mission that honors the Fallen, supports Veterans and families, and has collected more than 550,000 pounds of food for people in need.
Every Roadmarch, every challenge, every firetruck appearance, and every raised glass of Thirteen Monkeys All American Whiskey carries the same message: Chris is remembered, and his example continues to move us forward.
